In Writing Workshop on the Bronxville campus we put our communication skills to the test with some hands-on challenges!

Block Tower Confusion – Building a structure with just verbal instructions? Let’s just say, “Put it on top” wasn’t quite enough detail!
Geodome Assembly Adventure – Written and visual instructions? A total game changer—when they actually make sense!
What We Discovered:
- Be literal! No room for “guess what I mean.”
- Details, details, details. More description = better results.
- Prepositions matter! (Over? Under? Next to? BIG difference.)
- Pictures help—but only if they’re clear!
- Text + visuals = winning combo.
The verdict? Precise, specific language makes all the difference! Whether you’re writing directions, recipes, or how-to guides, clarity is key.
